Ramosa is a brand new hop from the wizards at Segal Hop Ranch. We actually used Ramosa last summer in Nothing But Numbers when it was still D5-055. We really didn’t get a good feeling for it as there were so many different hops in that beer. However we kept hearing really good things so we contracted a small amount from the 2025 harvest. There’s only 5 or so acres of this hop grown at the moment but we think there’s gonna have to be a lot more soon. It’s pegged as being very Pineapple and Grapefruit forward. So far I’m not sure in combination with our yeast that those are quite what we would describe. A few days before canning the beer smelled like Tang. Or those gummy orange candies. It was bonkers. Since then it’s almost morphed into this combo of tropical candy, all sorts of Citrus from Lime to Grapefruit and orange, and then maybe even some grape notes. It’s kind of mind boggling and really hard to describe to be honest. This hop is the closest we’ve experienced to that exotic, hard to pin down, character you get from certain NZ hops.. in a US grown hop. As always our Single Hop Pale Ales are a little drier and not hopped to quite the level that our 5% IPAs are. Look for great true-to-type hop character in a really bright, drinkable beer.
