Polotmavy translates to “Half Dark” in Czech. It’s a style rarely found in the Czech Republic but one we were intrigued to brew. It takes bits and pieces of both Pale Lager and Dark Lager and combines them into one. It has the hop character and bitterness more akin to the Czech Pale Lager with a richer malt character that’s found in a Tmavé but without the roast. It’s dark amber in color with flavors of toasted bread crust and toffee with some balancing spicy notes from the Czech Saaz. We also added a new hop variety from the Czech Republic called Most which adds just a hint of red fruit character that we think plays well with the malt flavors. At only 4.4% it’s a great malt forward beer for summer. Infinitely sessionable yet packed with flavor.
