OROS

West Coast L IPA

Introducing Oros. Our first attempt at making a more west coast leaning 5% LIPA. We went with a different grain bill, a unique water profile, our favorite house ale yeast, and did everything along the way to make this beer clear. And of course it didn’t want to. Eventually we got kinda the way there but it’s still not as clear as we’d like… still working on that. A classic hop bill of Simcoe, Centennial, and Chinook laid the backbone but we couldn’t resist adding some NZ hops in there, cause… well… they’re amazing. So we added a sizable amount of NZ Cascade from Freestyle Hops. NZ Cascade is slowly becoming one of our favorite NZ varieties and of course it’s one of the hardest hops to get right now. We actually couldn’t get any 2024 harvest but had a bit left over from 2023 harvest. It’s very different than US grown Cascade with a really terpy lime note and some white grapefruit. Maybe a smidge of pine. The result is a really bright beer with lots of lemon from the Centennial, lime from the NZ Cascade, some earthy pineapple from the Chinook, and some hints of pine/wood. We’re stoked on it but as always we’ll be tweaking it forever until we get exactly what we’re looking for.
