NZH109 is the latest experimental hop variety from New Zealand Hops. This is the 3rdexperimental hop we’ve used from them and I think it’s the best one yet. You remember we’ve released NZH104 and NZH105. We really liked both of those but neither of them made the cut sadly and have been pulled from the fields. NZH109 however we really think will have some staying power and make the transition to a named variety in the near future. A lot more acreage of it was planted and harvested this past spring. It’s very aromatic with maybe more stone fruit than we typically get from any other NZ hop. There’s lot of tropical fruit in there as well with very little dank or diesel notes that typically come along from most punchy NZ varieties. We were only able to snag a few bags of this so we’re not sure when we’re going to be able to use it next so enjoy it while it lasts as it’ll be a second before we get to use it again.
