NZH-105 is a new experimental hop variety from New Zealand. We were fortunate to secure a very small amount of this hop so we decided to brew a single hop Pale Ale with it to see what it could bring to a beer. There is very little info available on this hop so we didn’t know exactly what to expect. After brewing it and adding our standard Pale Ale dry hop we weren’t overly excited. It had this nice light, kinda generic fruit character to it so we decided to up the dry hopping a bit and boy are we glad we did. The orange/tangerine creamsicle aromas coming from this beer are kinda nuts. We’ve never experienced anything quite like it. It’s amazing how fruity this hop is without bringing any of that typical NZ hop diesel or dankness. As the beer warms more pineapple and apricot flavors emerge. We’re excited with how this beer turned out and be sure to look for NZH-105 in future beers from us as we think it’s truly unique and downright tasty.
