JUST ME: MOST
Single Hop Pils
Our single hop Pils series, Just Me, returns this week with a brand new hop from the Czech Republic simply called Most. This is a collaboration with the fine folks at @hollingberyhops and especially our good friend and rep, Randin King. Most is a brand new hop that was just released in the last few years. It’s bred from English hops and is named after the town of Most where it’s grown. Most is actually Czech for “Bridge”. It’s definitely not your traditional noble Czech hop. It is said to have notes of strawberry, black current, bubblegum, and subtle tropical fruit. It might be the most “American” hop that we’ve used from Europe. Since we were using Czech hops we decided to also use a malt variety that originated in The Czech Republic called Hana. Hana malt was used in the first Pilsner brew back in 1842 and is the parent of almost all the traditional Pilsner malt grown throughout Europe. This “Just Me” series of beers is designed to showcase every aspect of the particular hop. We use the one hop throughout the boil, in the whirlpool, and then add a small dry hop. These beers have more hop character than our Standard Pale Lager but not quite as much as what we call “New World Pils”.
